All Things Boston

Dick Beardsley "Boston Billy" Rodgers Guy Morse Joan Benoit

In spite of vigorous attempts by major cities in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world to claim dominance of the marathon world, the venerable Boston Marathon maintains its unique position as the oldest regularly-run marathon and one of the most prestigious. On April 18, 2011 the Boston Athletic Association will host the 115th running of the Boston Marathon. In acknowledgement of this race’s vaulted place among the world’s myriad of footraces, the Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon celebrates Boston’s anniversary with a special group of VIPs: Guy Morse (executive director of the BAA), “Boston Billy” Rodgers (four-time winner of Boston), Joan Benoit (a two-time Boston champion), and Dick Beardsley (one-half of the famous 1982 Boston “duel in the sun”). Additionally, much of Saturday’s Marathon College will be dedicated to all things Boston..
