The Course

During the first part of the race, the road is entirely closed to traffic.

The marathon is certified and sanctioned by USATF. Fully paved, the point-to-point course has three hills in the first six miles. Miles 6 to 21 are flat to rolling and gently downhill. The last six miles are flat. The first 12+ miles are closed to traffic, as are the last 3 miles. The remainder of the course along the Silverado Trail will be closed to traffic on the west side of the highway. California Highway Patrol officers will direct traffic on the eastern side.

Runners who run in the roadway east of the highway midline will be disqualified. Also, pacing is not allowed; runners being paced by bicyclists will be disqualified. Each mile will be clearly marked. This is a running event. For the safety of our runners, baby strollers, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and dogs are strictly prohibited.

During the latter part of the race only the west lane is closed to traffic.
